Did any Sunday School stories scare the bejeebies out of you? My dh isn't keen on my sending our ds to Sunday School because so many of them are violent. The whole Easter concept, Cain and Abel, even why Lucifer was cast out of heaven. It's true; there is a lot of violence in the bible. I have a couple of children's bibles that I can't even read to my ds yet, as they deal with violence and killing. Look at the story of Joseph and the coat of many colors. What scared you?

All of it!!! My ds does not like to go to church because of the Stations of the Cross at our Catholic church. He is horrified and the poor little peep (4) doesn't even know why ~ I certainly haven't told him anything about the REAL Easter story! But he knows there is 'serious badness' that went on that killed Jesus!

I have not read from the bible to ds either other than what he hears in Church for this reason also. Violence really really bothers me and I don't want him to hate church any more than he already does (not that he really hates it).

Sorry I can't be of much help, all the religion stuff just freaks me out too. I'm sure when ds goes to PSR in school he'll get the whole story.

All of them! I have tried to read my kids some of the stories and find myself mumbling to get over the terrible stuff. Ugh! I don't know if I am ready for some of it.
