Is the gift of life...
Would you mind sharing if you're an organ donor or not -- and why did you make this decision?

I understand that this is one of those subjects that are a bit touchy, for it deals with death -- something we ALL have in common, and at times the topic of religion comes up. However, making this topic part of your life, definitely affects not only you. Its selfless and it may mean the world to someone in need after your passing, and I feel we all need to make a concious decision regarding this.

I am an organ donor. I carry my little card and have the green sticker on the back of my driver's license. Im very proud of my family, for we all are.

I am an organ donor. Why do I need to let them go to waste? It would be my honor to save someone's life.

Yep, me too!

And have been for over 25 years, way before it was really talk about and not that much known about it.

If there is anyway that I could help somebody else stay with their family a little bit longer, than that is a great legecy to live.

Of course I want to be done with all of my stuff first

DH and I both are...I have "officially" been since I got my first drivers license at 17. DH became one after we met. We both have the hearts on our drivers licenses and our families know (even if some of them don't agree). My feeling is if I can give someone a gift like that, I am all for it...but like Ruthie said, please make sure I'm really done with it first

Yes, I filled out the little card when I got my drivers liscense.

I'm gonna be dead, I'm not gonna need them any more.

yes, it would be an honor to donate my or a family member's organs. It is one of the best gifts you can give.

This is exactly how I feel!!! My mom however completely freaks out when we talk about this. She is convinced that if you are an organ donor, the doctors will purposely not recessitate you or do whatever action is necessary to save your life. They will be in a huge hurry to harvest your organs.......

Due to medical problems I can't donate organs or blood. BEFORE this I had donated blood and had organ donor checked on my driver's license.

My Mom feels the same way! I think that is so silly! I will be gone and the last thing I will ever do is to help someone live, how wonderful! I hope I am never in the position where I need an organ donation, but if I or someone I love is, I pray there is someone out there willing to let another live in the event of their death. To me it was a "no brainer" decision.
