What was the first sign you saw that made you think your kiddo may have some special need(s)?

Since a very young age my DD started showing Autistic features like rocking back and forth and doing weird hand movements. Later on I noticed that when she played with other kids her age she seemed way more immature and baby like in her actions.

My friend has an autistic daughter, in fact it is her first of five children is autistic. I asked her one time, when we were discussing the idea of autism and vaccinations, and if she thought there was a connection. She said, looking back and comparing with her four other children, that she could see a that there was something different from her daughter from almost the very beginning. She didn't realize it at the time.

He was a good baby. Too good. Never cried. Sleep 12 hours at night from an early age. Didn't roll over until 9 months. Just lay there and smiled most of the time. The pediatrician just said he was happy and content but I sensed something was off. He was delayed in motor skills all the way through but again no alarm bells went off for them but for us we knew 'something' was off. It wasn't until his sister (2 years younger) surpassed him that we insisted on further testing.
