Hello .,

I receive the Schaeffer Report which is an online daily information e-mail that I subscribe to that publishes any news from anywheere in the world on Autism. The following is an article that I just read, you may be interested in it.

Adopting disabled child brings callous reaction: 'Why?' - baltimoresun.com

I tried the link from the Schaeffer report and was not able to cut and paste, so I have tried once I went to the article and opened it up to post the link, sorry not sure if it will work for you all.

That was a nice article and I'm glad they saved this child.

But there is something that bothered me...they were so put off by what people were saying, which, I agree, many of the comments were senseless and insensitive. But how could you be offended by someone saying there's a special place in heaven for them? That is not being religious - that is saying "bless you for taking in a child that is so harmed in the system". They are a bit too defensive, and that could also harm this child. This was a child who needed someone. It also makes me angry that as "screened" as foster parents are, kids still get abused and are not trained in handling a child w/special needs before placement.
