I called them a few years ago. There's no way I could do it now w/kids, and couldn't then because the only time they had training was during my regular work hours.
But I think it's a great thing - you're a child advocate. There are some concerns because you are giving the judge your input, and they warned me they did have a few cases where the husband tried to come after the CASA worker. The only think that did concern me is that although you are trained, you don't have to have a social work degree, yet you have a lot of say in the case on whether a child should be removed. Hopefully, they would weigh it all, but I just don't trust CPS to do their job.
If you can do it, it would be great! One person making the difference in one child's life is huge!
