My early intervention program gave us a family subsity grant to purchase things for my youngest DD because she has SID. This is the second time we have received this kind of grant and we will be getting one more before she turns 3. I have to choose things I would like to buy and then get approval through the state. One of the items that the OT that is covered by insurance suggested is called a Pea Pod https://www.schoolspecialtyonline.ne...=75/430775.jpg I was very hesitant to buy this but I did anyway. Both my youngest DDs love this thing and actually fight over it sometimes. It's and instant calmer. I found it in the Abilitations catalog. Are there any other products that you found are great for your kids and what do tey help with?

This is a GREAT post!

First of all, how can I go about applying for one of those grants? For us, the brushing helps, but ds needs more. I need to buy him the rubber seat the school uses, but it always seems hard to even pull the $40 out of the budget. Jumping on our mini-trampoline also helps him, but I know he needs more.

Forgive me but I can't remember how old your DS is. My youngest DD is only 2 so that's why we have early intervention. It only goes to the age of 3 and then we will be refered to Head Start. I would check with your local Head Start program to see if they can help streer you in the right direction or if you are eligiable.

I have ordered the abilitations catalog just for ideas of things to buy and do. We also have a mini trampoline that we found at a rummage sale. My DDs love it but sometimes it can be dangerous because 2 of them like to jump at the same time. On friday we found a jumpolene at a rummage sale for $22. All four of my girls love this thing. They have one filled with plastic balls and it can be both calming and also help get rid of some of their extra energy. I took the rest of the bday money my youngest 2 DDs had a ordered a tent with a tunnel that attaches to it. The tent will be great to play in and also was recommended to use as a calming place. The tunnel we use in our obstical courses and DDs pushes a weighted ball through it for a heavy work out.

Our house is a giant sensory diet house. Helps keep me sane. I'm looking forward to other peoples comments.
