Tuesday afternoon, Tommy had his chest drain tube and his pacer wires removed! They also removed his IV. We still have a lot of unanswered questions about his lungs, and his oxygen saturation numbers still look crappy. A healty person is 100%, typical for his surgery should be in the 80's, he is in 60's and 70's. It doesn't sound so bad until I say he is ON oxygen at a rate of 35%. He should be in the 90's with that much O2.
But, all in all, he looks great, is starting to smile and act like his old self. We are having to rearrange our home to accomodate his O2 concentrator, humidity, etc that is required for him to get healthy lungs. It is looking like he can come home on Thursday as long as nothing serious comes up before then. I will update again when I get him home.
Happy 4th of July!!
