Welcome to the Special Needs Forum! Thank you, Kim, for making this happen! Many of us have Special Needs children, or know one. My child is six and has Aspergers, high-functioning autism and sensory disorders. He is a child that seems "normal", until you realize he is just a little too focused on certain things, and slowly will strike one as "odd". I hope sharing here will also help enlighten those who are around children who have special needs, and possibly help remove some of the stigma. Personally, I don't mind if another parent asks me questions when they see my son acting differently. I wish they would, rather than assume my son has simply bad behavior. I also have a one year old chubby baby girl. Many of you have already read my posts in the past, so I won't go through a long intro. Thank you for sharing your day with us.

Hi! How great to find this forum here!

I just joined the site and am excited to be here!

I, too, have a son (8) with Asperger's and Sensory Issues. He also has GAD (anxiety disorder) is "gifted" and has ADHD.

We (he and I) just changed schools the fourth day of school this year and needless to say, the transition has been less than smooth.

I also have an 11 year old (ADHD/gifted/bipolar..tested borderline for Asperger's) and a 14 month old.

Hi everyone,

I am really excited to see this forum as well. I have a newphew who is only five. Right now his diagnosis is PDD/ ADHD. However, I am wondering if his still is high functioning Autistic.
I agree to about I would rather people ask questions, than assume a child is misbehaving. I never judge a parent in public. I always think to myself, we the outsiders do not know what is going on with a child a casing them to "misbehave".

I am getting my Masters in Special Education. I have worked wth children who are on the specturm. I find it really rewarding. This is my second career.

I look forward to chatting with all of you.

We have to stick together, support each other, and have a voice.

Carolyn
