I was talking to my friend whos son has Williams Syndrome and she asked why I never come over. I told her how much I hate going out because I am never relaxed and I worry about my DS behavior or him wrecking something in her house. She just laughed and said with her son , my son couldn't harm anything else.

I know she is right but still I worry about going out to other peoples house. Or even worse to go out and see what normal really by seeing NT in the store. I get hurt and depressed. I rather just sit in my home with my DS and believe that this is normal.

Can you relate? April

Oh, you know I do. It also hurts, and I'm more embarrassed for my son than for me, when he is so wild and his cousins act so calm. They have a lot of tile and he loves the echo, so he gets loud. People tell you not to worry about it, but you see them watching him, and sometimes you find out they make comments. I recently found out that my son's old music teacher happened to be friends with my sister in law, and although she liked my son, my sister in law was telling me how they were discussing him!!! If you are my son's teacher, don't discuss him with someone else, even family! Discuss him with me! He's pretty good in the stores - he is actually rather cute, and people are drawn to him. But in a private setting, it can get overwhelming. I have the feeling, though, April, that your friend is telling you the truth. If she invites you again, try it out!! Hunter is changing all the time and may surprise you. Small doses - I always knew that 2 hours was the absolute limit for my son before he got out of control.

By the way, what is Williams Syndrome?

Williams Syndrome is a genetic disorder in the __# gene. Does anyone know out here? It is very similar to downs with autistic behaviors. Laura's son is the cutes guy and so loving! I love to watch him and go out to look at heavy equipment. We play a game saying what the equipment is. Trackhoe, excavator, etc.

He is also just brilliant. He says facts that just leave me stunned. Like who the president was in 1940. Yet he can't tell you where he lives.

I will look up more about it and ask Laura to jump on here and give more information.
