Dh is licensed to do car seat checks, and a few months ago a woman came with a special needs child in a car seat her insurance had bought. It was the one her dr told her to get. Well it was wrong for her child. It didn't have enough head support and she could easily obstruct her airway (she is trached). The seat that would be perfect for her costs around $800 and her insurance refused to buy another one. Her dh is in Iraq and she just seemed like she had emotionally had enough and couldn't deal with anymore caring for her special needs child all on her own and a toddler as well.
Dh did some paperwork and sent out letters trying to find someone to buy the car seat for her. Today he found out that a Children's Hospital was able to get one for $400 and bought it for her. Dh left a message for this woman to call him. She was screaming and crying into the phone thanking him over and over again. I teared up just listening to her screaming into the phone.
I'm glad she is able to get the correct car seat for her daughter.

Car seats are imperative for all kids under 100lbs. My dh's cousin's daughter died at three years old since she was sitting on her mother's lap before the accident, she was crying. She flew out of the window, died almost instantly. Ever since this happened I've been traumatized for this has been the most horrific event in my whole life. My dd and her were only 10 months apart. Please secure your children regardless of the circumstance and if you see anyone not practicing this, there's usually state hotlines to report it; Lawforkids.org has these numbers.

I am very proud of your DH! What I mean is that it's good to know that there are still good people in the world. My DH has good thoughts, but hardly ever acts on them. I, on the other hand are like your DH.
