I would like to introduce you to Trudy my 35 year old sister. She was dx in late 70's and at the time my mom was told to institutionalize her. Needless to say my mom said no way buddy! Today she works full time, loves her babies to death (her nieces and nephews), calls and bugs her big sisters often to talk about anything and everything LOL no matter if we want to listen or not. We are very blessed that she is so high function. Imagine if my mom would have listened to the docs? Where would Trudy be?

Trudy, what are your hobbies? coloring, doing puzzles, talking on the phone to us, jamming to the radio, watching movies
What are you good at? running mom nuts
What do you dislike? people who stare
Is there a career you're happy in? she works at a rehab place and goes between working in the kitchen serving or cleaning (hates heat) or helping in the room with wheelchair bound adults, works in the garden, or the thrift store. Depends on her mood for the day and how lazy she wants to be
Is your family really as close as it seems? Lucky family! yes but we do have our times
Do you get really into a certain subject, where you learn everything about it, then change to another subject on a whim? she does change on awhim, but does not get into ever thing to learn
Are you still interested in the old subject, or do you drop it completely? Nope Bon Jovi is still her husband haha since we were 19?
Have you had issues with eye contact? Yes she does but if you say look at me she will
Did you work to overcome it or is it unimportant to you? She trys but pretty much it is unimportant
Can you give us any tips on getting through school successfully?She went to a special needs school. I will have to ask my mom about it.

The thing about Trudy is she also has ESP. She will tell you to answer the phone before it rings, tells us to change a diaper we will tell her the baby is dry, no they arent she will say and we check and the diaper is hot from the fresh use. My mom is trying to write abook about her. She is such a neat person. She makes an impression when she walks in a room, she is 6 foot and about 230 lbs, Seems normal till she says something from left field. She is very funny, caring, and sadly does have grand mal seizures so she now can not stay home along. Up till when she was 25 she was able to stay along for up to 3 hours.

She lives in California and comes and spends a few months with us every couple years to give my mom break. This last time she stayed for 4 months. Really enjoyed going to basketball games and seeing the military base.
