I don't know why I feel guilty either. My husband grew up on coffee every night. He just swears it stunted his growth. But his older brother grew up on it every night too, and he's pretty tall. Who knows? *shrug*

I give my son coffee, but he has more milk then coffee, because he sees me drinking coffee, and he wants some too. He doesn't get hyped up from coffee.
I grew up around coffee, we were given coffee at an early age as well.

None of my children get the drowsy effect from Benadryl. Coffee doesn't hype them up or help them sleep. DD #3 went through Benadryl, melatonin and a host of prescription sleep aids that didn't help. We also went threw 3 doctors before we were referred to a neurologist for sleep issues. DD#3 and #1 had sleep studies done and that's when we found out that DD #3 has central sleep apnea that she is sleep deprived which causes hyperactivity like actions and also cause her to have a hard time going to sleep. DD #3 was evaluated for hyperactivy/ ADHD and isn't. We finally found a med that some what helps her fall asleep and over the past year has help improve the sleep deprivation. Also with the help of our OT we are finding that deep muscle use (pushing and carrying heavy things, long walks with ankle weights, army crawling) also help to calm DD. These things do not make her tired but calm. We also use classical music to go to sleep and music in the background during the day also help calm her.

DD #1 was recently diagnosed with ADHD so we are trying to figure out what works for her. I never realized that ADHD part but her boyfriend was over last nght and kept commenting how hyper she was. To me this is the way she has always been.
