No, I would never confront someone on that!! You never know what someone's medical condiiton is. They are not always obvious!!!

Handicapped accessible bathroom stalls are totally different. They are for anyone, but are accessible for the handicapped.

I would never confront anyone about the parking space. Both my mother & MIL own handicapped hangers for reasons that aren't "visable".

As for the bathrooms ~ I don't think twice about using the stalls. Heck - more than 1/2 the time that's where the diaper changing units are.

I too would never confront someone for parking in a handicapped spot. My mil has a handicapped hanger because she has limited lung capacity due to lung cancer (she had a couple lobes of her lungs removed). When I drive her around, we use the handicapped spots. To look at her you would never know she has a problem but if she has to walk far she has difficulty breathing.

My dh has a handicap pass because his ankles are really bad at times. He doesnt always use it unless he has a flair up in the joints. However I can tell you we got some dirty looks getting out of the car but its legit and he didnt want it but dr. insisted he should have!

We have handicapped tags for Tommy. I get reallllllly ticked off when there are no spots! He has a TON of medical equipment that I have to schlep everywhere. Even if he doesn't get out of the van, we still need handicapped parking with wheelchair access because if he needs to be suctioned or other attention, we can't open our van door to get to him if a car parks too close to us. There may not be time to move our van just so we can open the door to get to him. 9 times out of 10, I will run into the store while DH sits outside with him. I'm sure many people have wondered what my "handicap" is. In our case, a handicap spot is not a convenience, it is a necessity and could mean life or death if we could not get to him.

In the event he does go in with us, wheelchair access is also a must because it takes about 5-10 minutes to get out his stroller and load up all of his medical equipment and him. He has to go everywhere with it and we can't leave any of it behind. We need the space to load up his gear without worrying if we will get run over.

No I never would. I've never even thought about it.

I am just happy that Ive never had to use one, Heck I didn't even use the ones for pregnant women when I was pregnant.

I always feel there is someone worse off than me. I sailed through pregnancy and felt absolutely no reason to use a close parking spot. I always thought there was someone pregnant with young kids or something that could use it more than I could.

Had to edit to add that I ALWAYS use the handicapped bathroom stalls if they are available. I am clausterphobic and the bigger the stalls are the better. Or sometimes I have ds with me and we can't fit into the crammed stalls. If there was someone who needed it, I'd always get out of the way and let them use it and then wait. But in all my years of using one, I've never had that experience.
