This phrase concerns me for your daughter's sake. You don't learn to "cope with her 'natural self'". She can learn tricks and find ways to help herself, yes, but that is through being taught the tricks and going through the needed therapies. Just like you don't cope and do with your natural self with migraines or diabetes, you get medical help. ADHD is a MEDICAL condition. I even need to remind myself that when my son can't find his homework or pencil because he misplaced it the night before and stepped over it on the floor without picking it up.
It sounds like finding a new Dr. is absolutely the right thing. But know that leaving her to her own devices will leave her lost without the therapies to help her cope. I have a lot of pain and have to take numerous meds for it. I can go off the meds, yes, and cope with the pain, but I'll be limping and exhausted, not able to do much for long. My focus will be on the pain. Or I can take my meds, and while I still have the pain, it's not as sharp. But having the meds will help me focus on my family and the things I need to do without having my thoughts focus on my problems. Hope that makes sense.
