Have you ensured and updated IEP or 504 plan is ready for next year? Think about notes you can get ready to hand out to your child's teachers to explain things in bulletpoints. You want to be sure things are ready from day one, because they usually have to put off the parent conferences until later, and you don't want to miss a day. I like to have mine ready for Meet the Teacher Night (I had to learn to do this). Not to discuss on that busy night, but simply to give the teacher.

Also, consider getting your child's eyesight and hearing checked over the summer, along with any updated diagnoses needed. Ensure immunizations and any physicals are up-to-date.

No, in fact, I was just thinking today that I need to contact my son's teacher and set up an end of year meeting with the team to implement the plan for next year. I want this done before the end of the school year.
