Did anyone else's child have these as an infant and has autism? I was reading some articles and they were meanting a link. Even the epilepsy
society had this fact on their website. Just thought I might say something incase anyone out there child might have had these.

What do you mean by spasms? I don't think that was an issue here.

Sorry. I had started a post and fell asleep and DH hit submit before I had finished. He thought he was being helpful. Infantile spasms look like seizures but really aren't. Neurologists or some peds diagnosis them with an eeg. DS used to have his arm shake like a dog rubbing his ear. They were saying that kids who have these as infants are likely diagnosised with autism. This kinda goes along with some doctors beliefs that autism and epilepsy might have a genetic connection.

No, dd didn't have any that I can recall. She does take Tegretal as a mood stabilizer. It has intrigued me that so many anticonvulsants are also used as mood stabilizers.

Her youngest brother had neonatal seizures and was on anticonvulsants for his first year of life. He's not autistic, however.
