DS, my little Aspie, sometimes shows signs of OCD or possible Tourettes, but the Dr.s don't think it's really Tourettes. When DS does things, he says he can't control it, but I know it's more of an "itch" that has to be scratched and try to rechannel the feeling. So hard. I had some of that, and one of my brothers did.
The latest things are quite noticeable. Now, mind you, when you first meet my son, you think he is typical, until he starts talking and talking....and talking, teaching you in detail about things you don't know and correcting you...
Anyway...his latest is as he's walking, he suddenly steps one foot back and like retraces a step - it looks like a hop, or rather like he's tripping. He is also doing this little growl/roar sound. This is a kid who loves to growl in play, and he also does it in anger with his baby sister, which we are trying to break. The Dr. has no opinion - just says kids do it and he'll probably grow out of it - that's probably true; he'll substitute it with a new one. He's 8 and it can be disturbing. Now mind you, he didn't do it in school (for what I saw, and says he didn't), he didn't do it at a museum visit w/ a friend or a ChuckECheese party last week. But he will do it in public with us.
Anybody know about this and has gotten any info from professionals?
