So many lives are touched by bullying. Special Needs kids are at a much higher risk of being the victim or yes, even the aggressor (often without meaning to be the bully). Some schools are finally coming around and are implementing programs, but in truth, many of the plans are lame or just plain ineffective. Better schools try to maintain respect within all parties (although I don't think bullies deserve respect, but today's bully, if caught at a young age, can be tomorrow's asset).

Many schools/districts just don't have the time or know-how to implement and follow through on these programs. Some don't want to be bothered, or just give the typical "ignore them" advice, which rarely works.

Here's a resource for you to pass along to your school. We, as parents, should have a zero tolerance policy and ensure that the schools follow through on their zero tolerance policies!

Unfortunately bullying in Schools or at other places is a problem that is least getting or few taken attentions and there is not much that is done to eradicate it from society. Special needs children do want special care, attention and motivation so that can build their self to a prospective member of a society. However, good schools are aware of their responsibilities to play a vital role in creating an environment equally beneficial for all, and where social abnormalities such as bullying are getting attention of teachers and administrators and respective actions are taken so that it doesn't happen to anyone.
