Does anyone have a prepaid cellphone plan? We currently have a family plan with verizon, but didn't renew our contract. I'm trying to cut costs so I was wondering about prepaid plans. Is it a monthly fee? Can you roll over your minutes into the next month?
Any savings tips would be helpful. Thanks.

I use Alltel prepaid. It costs .15/minute. You have to put $10 on it every 2 months. The site says something diferent. I think it says $20. If you forget to add money to your account, they will put your account at $0. You just have to call them and get them to put your money back once you add the $10. This works great for me because I only use about 10-15 minutes per month. There are no other charges other than the .15 a minute.

Once my AT&T contract was up, I purchased a go phone sim card on eBay for $7 and popped it into my Razr V3 and set it up as a go phone. Unfortunately, Verizon does not use sim cards in their phones. Since I don't use my phone much, a $100 card that gives me a year's worth of service is really all I need.

Tracfone is what my kids use. I highly recommend the Motorola W376 on sale this week at Target for $27, of $29.88 everyday at Walmart. It comes with double minutes for the life of the phone, and you can get a year's service with 800 minutes for $100.

I've got a tracfone, i hardly use it so it's perfect for me. Every 3 months you have to buy a card for it to keep it activated, the minutes you haven't used are still on your phone and are added to your new minutes. A 60 minute card is $20 at Dollar General.

I just ordered my second tracfone. I had the first one for several years, and really liked not having a contract. I have put 60 minutes into it every 3 mos., and have banked-up about 550 minutes. I'm passing it on to DH. With my new phone, they are offering to double your minutes for life.

Tracfone always has special deals going on.

My husband and I both have a tracfone and they work great for us. We don't use them alot just to have for emergencies and if anyone needs to get ahold of us if we are away from home.

Thank you for all your help.
I think I will look into the tracfone. That sounds like it will work for us.

I have agree with Tracfone. I bought one for my son and it has worked so good that when my contract is up with my service provider I plan on getting one. We only use ours for emergencies, but have had no problem with it.
