I love him too, read his books and it is a great method. I have step one done, budgetng is good, just need step two (eliminate debt) completed, but that will take a couple of yrs (auto loan, mortgage ect) then onto investing.

You can find his books at the Library. Not the work books though- I checked out one of his books recently- can't remember the name- but they are there.

I also have some DR questions. My sister gave me his Total Money Makeover and I think that the whole thing has me overwhelmed. I understand that he has classes~has anyone ever tried those?? Is is worth the $$? I would really like to start the new year with a real plan!! Any info would be appreciated!

His classes are called "Financial Peace University". This is the class that my dh and I took this summer it was very good - we both highly recommend it. Feel free to ask me any questions about it.

dont be overwhelmed. just do each step at a time. im only focusing on "baby step one" thats my 1000 emergency fund and ive put away my check card and paying cash for everything in the envelopes. thats all. until i've save my 1k and gotten the hang of the envelopes, i will then move onto the other dave ramsey stuff. thats all i can handle at the moment!

Hi Everyone,

I don't post regularly because of time shortage LOL! But everytime I see a Dave post I always reply. Dave has a real find for my husband and I, we have great incomes, but were spending every dime really frivolously. We also "fleeced" both of our vehicles and were proud owners of a "creative" mortgage (intrest only). Luckily we didn't have any credit card debt and had all of our bills on paper. We budgeted monthly, but BLEW it BIGTIME every month so there was always enough to cover bills, but never anything left to save. Since reading the Total Money Makeover about four months ago, we have a budget on paper that we actually stick to becuase having the cash in the envelopes makes us stop spending when it's gone. We also have paid down a four wheeler that will be paid off three years early and got out of one of our "fleeces" and bought a used vehicle that will be paid off four years early at the rate we are going. I can't tell you how much pressure has been lefted off us. Evey month we do a happy dance because we really feel like we have control over our finances instead of them controling us! Please feel free to message me or the others who have offered anytime you need anything. It helps to have support especially when you have a creative question. My SIL called yesterday to ask which envelope they should take her hubby's speeding ticket out of! LOL!
