Same in our house...401k, ING accounts, my UPROMISE accts, saving accts. ..sorry got so many. We have been budgeting very well, no cc in our home, don't want them..very BAD 4 us. It took us years to save but no worries...even if you don't have any savings....start putting away as little by little...start with... as little $3.00 to $5.00 every paycheck or if u can contribute more put away at least 1% or 2% of what you make. Pay yourself first, I say. Stick with your budget in your home....and everyone can reap the rewards of going on vacation, college funds for the kids and retire at an early age.

We do. And the funny thing is with me being more of a SAHM (I do work about 5-6days/month, sometimes less), we have more money now (not that we are rich or that DH makes a ton of money) than we did when I was working full-time. Our biggest vice, is eatting out though. If we could cut that down, we would have a few extra hundred dollars a month. I am working on it though (tryng to plan meals and such).

Yes we have some money put away. It's probably about a month and a half's worth of our salaries. I generally wait until the dollar amount gets high enough to pay off a bill and start all over with $1000. We were down to just the mortgage this time last year but did some home improvement projects and got a newer vehicle so I'm saving again to get 1 paid off.

We haven't had any savings up until the end of this month when we will be done refinancing our home and will put $10k in savings right away. We are just not savers, but are trying to institute a change. Now we are just trying to figure out the best place to put all that. Hey, I guess I'll post a question!!

Nope, not a cent right now. I am not sure what we would do. We were working on it, and then something happened that sucked it all up again. We HOPE to get back on it at the end of this month..but it will take a while.

I have 4 yearly CDs set up that come due quarterly as my emergency fund. Unfortunately, with my mom dying - 2 cross country trips for that and a surgery with huge deductible - I will be withdrawing the CD that comes due next week to cover part of those expenses. I used my income tax refund this year to set up the 4th one but before that, it was just saving $20-50 a paycheck - whatever could be done at the time.

I have right now about 3 months worth of expenses but would feel more comfortable having 6 months worth - especially as a single parent. It will be difficult to pay off the medical and travel expenses and finish saving what I want, but I will not rest well until I do have 'enough' savings in the bank. Money problems stress me out too much so I will eat PB&J for a month if I have to in order to save the money and pay off the bills!
