How do you save money on swimsuits for the family?

My youngest wears her sister's hand-me-downs. i found a new one for my oldest at KMart that was 30% off. It's a Hannah Montana suit that was normally $17.99, and I paid $12 and some change.
Buying used swimsuits on consignment or at thrift stores just grosses me out.

The one I have now is one that my dughter outgrew some time back - I've been using it for about five years now, and it's about shot.
If I'm going to buy one new, I wait until the end of the season and buy on clearance for the next year.
I have bought swim suits from thrift stores - I just make sure the elastic isn't shot. I dont' worry about germs and such, because I wash everything I buy before I wear it anyway, even if I buy it new. I used to work in the ladies fitting room at Sprawl-Mart, and I know how nasty some people are when they try on clothes.

Hand-me-downs and end of season clearance! I think my boys are set with suits for the next several years. Its goggles we can't seem to have enough of. They lose them or break them regularly.

End of year clearance and buy quality swimsuits for handing down. Speedo fits my dd really well. I have swimmies for her up to size 12 (she is wearing an 8 now). I scored them at Kohls end of year. Little dd gets her sister's hand me downs.

I also do not ever dry them. I wash them and throw them over the line.

The girls also wear a rash guard/swim top over the swimsuits so their backs and shoulders are protected. I'm happy to see they are becoming more popular.

I buy my swimsuits on Lands End clearance. I live in them most of the summer and they are good quality.

I always get my boys trunks at Kmart's clearance and save them for the next year. I usually pay around $4.00 each. As for mine, I always hang dry and that makes them last for years.

Finding an inexpensive, new swimsuit for DD is EASY. And that is good because she practically lives in them all summer long. Yes, my DD has a swimsuit wardrobe.

Women's swim suits are much different story, though, especially for someone like me who needs a bra-sized top. I concentrate on purchasing two-piece numbers (like tankini's). By switching around the tops and the bottoms, I can get the fit I need and make them last longer. I must have at least half a dozen tops and bottoms - each (usually a tankini top and board shorts).

I also swear by hand washing them in a mild, chlorine resistant shampoo and letting them air-dry.

I search out the clearance racks at major department stores as well as purchase at Target and discount clothing stores like TJ Maxx, Marshalls and Ross.

Of course, if you REALLY want to save on swimsuits, just skinny dip.

I swim nude. Just kidding.

I buy my 4 yr old dd suits at T.J. Maxx. I actually bought her 3 last year, because they were so cheap and she likes to wear them all the time in the summer, even if we are not going to the pool. The most expensive one was 7 dollars.

I have no way to get them cheap for me. I am pretty big. Normally I don't even buy them, but I did get one last year. Lands End.
For my tweens I just try to buy them on sale.
