Yes, oatmeal is a whole grain and VERY frugal. Great for healthy yet inexpensive breakfasts.

I know my list isn't fair as we currently get WIC and I'd def. be using what we get from them to create meals for my family.

I'd shop RIGHT now as Aldi's eggs are on sale for $0.49/doz. Limit 5. However this is only for ONE week as I simply can't see myself doing it for 2 weeks on HEALTHY. I'd def. have ALOT of ramen noodles and bean soups! lol

-5 Dozen eggs - $2.45
-2 Spaghetti sauce - $2.38
-Spaghetti noodles - $0.99
-2 lbs Ground turkey - $2.38
-Hot dog buns [we'd use these as our garlic bread] - $0.49
-Chicken nuggets - $3.99
-French fries - $1.19
-2 Mac & cheese - $0.66
-1 package of hot dogs - $0.50
-1 package frozen sausage links - $0.89
-1 package of frozen drumsticks - $3.99
-4 Broc. crowns - $1.98
-5lbs rice - $1.99
TOTAL: $23.88

I'd get Milk, Eggs [not the ones I counted], Juice, Cheese, Carrots, Tuna, Lentils, Peanut Butter, Cereal & Baby Juice/Cereals from my WIC that week.

My family would have:
-Homemade Bread
-Homemade Pizza
-Spaghetti
-Mac & Cheese with Hot Dogs
-Chicken Nuggets/FF
-Hardboiled eggs for snacks
-Tuna salad sandwiches
-Peanut Butter sandwiches
-Carrot sticks for snacks
-Lentils/sausage soup
-Homemade dinner rolls
-Homemade fried chicken/rice & broc. casserole

For one week, I could probably do it. For two weeks...I could do it only because I have a huge pantry and freezer full of food!

My only problem is that this pregnancy, all I crave is milk! We easily go through 4 gallons a week!

Otherwise, I would hit up my local indoor farmer's markets and get produce really cheap, mix it in w/ what I already have in my pantry and freezer, and I think we would be fine for 2 weeks...as long as I found a way to pay for the milk! =)

We are fortunate to have a nice varied stockpile that comes from careful coupon shopping and preserving a lot from the garden. If I had only $25 for the next two weeks, I could make it work using that stockpile and adding milk and maybe some produce.

I hope this link is allowed.
Not too long ago I came across The Prudent Homemaker's account of Living on our Food Storage. I found her story of living off her stockpile for two years quite inspiring.

I think I could do this for a week! I'm assuming it's Sunday and dh gets paid Friday... Lets see if I really could:

Sunday:
Breakfast: English Muffins w/ egg and slice of velveta cheese w/juice
Lunch: Chili
Supper: Chili
Dessert: Pumpkin Bars

Monday:
Breakfast: English Muffins w/ egg and slice of velveta cheese w/juice
Lunch: Chili
Supper: Turkey w/ mashed potatoes w/green beans & Salad
Dessert: Pumpkin Bars

Tuesday:
Breakfast: English Muffins w/ egg and slice of velveta cheese w/juice
Lunch: Turkey Sandwiches & Mashed potatoes
Supper: Potatoes w/ Turkey Casserole w/ green beans & Salad
Dessert: Pumpkin Bars

Wednesday:
Breakfast: English Muffins w/ egg and slice of velveta cheese w/juice
Lunch: Left over Casserole
Supper: Cheesey Potatoe and Turkey Soup w/ green beans & Salad
Dessert: Pumpkin Bars

Thursday: English Muffins w/ egg and slice of velveta cheese w/juice
Lunch: Left Over Soup
Supper: Spaghetti w/ green beans & Salad
Dessert: Pumpkin Bars

Friday:
Breakfast: English Muffins w/ egg and slice of velveta cheese w/juice
Lunch: Left Over Spaghetti
Supper: Meatloaf w/ Baked potatoe & green beans & Salad
Dessert: Pumpkin Bars

Grocery List:
English Muffins 12 count x2 = $2.24
Eggs x2 12 count = $2.50
Velveta Cheese = $3.25
Beans x3 cans = $2.50
Can of Pumpkin x1 can = $1.25
Cream Cheese x1=$.88
Juice 2 cans = $3.00
Turkey x 10 lbs = $3.70
Potatoes: 5lb = $.68
Green Beans: $.37/can x 5= $1.85
Spaghetti Sauce x 1 can = $.89
Spaghetti Noodles x1 box = $1.00
Hamburger x 1lb = $1.68
Onion x 1lb= $.88
Lettuce x1 head = $1.28

Total: $25.34

Coupons would make this cheaper...I just looked at the ads that I had at home, so I'm sure going to Walmart would be cheaper and buying generic.

Make bread/rolls at home with what you have. I have canned tomatoes for chili that I canned this fall. I also have canned applesauce that I canned this fall. Add two cans of peaches for $1.98 and you could make peach cobbler YUMM!!

Turkey's are $.37/lb right now at Cub!!

It is not healthy but I think the question at hand is can we survive. I think back on the Great Depression. Those people were trying to survive not live a healthy life. What would happen if we had no real amount of money to spend on food.
They didn't eat healthy back then during hard times or good times! Even my mom remembers (growing up in the country) they would spread lard on their rolls/bread! I mean now a days someone might be sent to jail for child abuse if they gave them lard to eat! Maybe a little exaggeration there.

The difference, they were skinny, healthy and eating lard because they were more active...always running around outside, doing choirs on the farm, riding their bikes, farming etc. I don't know what has changed but it seems as though the more years pass the more the kids are staying in the house and not going outside...maybe it is a fear of harm coming to them (?) People don't feel kids are as safe as the old days maybe.
