They will be using the same rulers and back packs, and that's it. Their backpacks are from L.L. Bean so they last forever. Everything else I buy new.

For our three youngest kids, we've gone from a parochial school, where we had to buy all supplies, to a public school where they provide everything.
For the younger three, we are just reusing binders (if in good condition), and maybe a backpack or two. Youngest DS is just starting Kindergarten, so we'll get a good (LL Bean or Lands' End) backpack for him.
Oldest DS is a HS senior in a parochial school. We're just re-using his backpack. Everything else (binders, dividers, highlighters, ....) will need to be replaced. Not looking forward to that since his school supplies are $$$$ (including textbooks for AP classes).

Backpack is it. She was in Kindergarten and only brought home broken crayons and a few pencils.

DS#1 is in HS and reuses most stuff and replenishes as needed.
DS#2 is going from kindergarten to grade one~ school bag, large zip loc news letter bag, snack containers, pencil crayons, pencil case are all being recycled. Everything else I will need to stockpile over the summer but I'm still waiting for the school to update their site so I know exactly what they want for my little ones grade. I know that they want us to send in a few of each listed item but just don't know how many exactly~ kleenex boxes, large freezer zip loc bags, glue sticks, erasers, pencils, scissors, pencil crayons, sharpener, indoor shoes (these items are for personal use and stay in pencil case). I'm sure there's more but I can't remember what some of the other BTDT'er moms said.

~ Pencils
~ Watercolor set (it was barely used last year)
~ Erasers
~ Spiral comp books (not really re-used but we have tons in the stockpile so I'll pull from those)
~ Glue sticks
~ sandwich bags (again, pull from the stockpile)
That leaves:
~ 24 ct Crayola Crayons
~ (2) 7" 12 ct Crayola Colored Pencils (we could probably put together a set, but two?)
~ (2) Boxes of Kleenex Tissues
~ 8 ct Washable Crayola Thick Markers
~ 8 ct Washable Crayola Thin Markers
~ (2) Red Medium Stick Pens
~ (2) 3x5 Plain Index Cards - 100 ct
~ 200 ct Wide Rule Filler Paper
~ Pocket Only Folders - 1 red, 1 green
And of course, all the other stuff DD will insist she'll need.
