What free things does your city/town offer for family entertainment to celebrate July 4th?

My city offers a parade, fireworks, outdoor concerts, bike races, and bigwheel races for the little ones.

Our town has free foreworks at the park that are exceptional every year. They have a live band playing there too. There is a dance contest and a dog parade for those who have dogs. Since my BIL is on city council I asked him about getting a 4th of July parade and he said, "Jenn, parades take volunteers to roganize them and if you really want a parade, I'll point you in the right direction for someone to help you organize one." Well, I just wanted to watch one w/ the kids so I guess we won't be having one. Oh well!

Fireworks + parade. Evidently this year they're trying some more social activities which is great because last year our town had NOTHING!

Our city offers many different fireworks displays around the county. Some subdivisions have their own parades/fairs. Unfortuately, none of them are that close to us.

Being in a large SoCal city, going to any of the events the traffic/parking is HORRENDOUS. The streets/freeways are so backed up. They are expecting 700,000 at the largest event today. I'm always envious of those of you in smaller communities.

I haven't decided what we'll do yet. Probably go to Sea World later in the afternoon. We have passes, so it's free, and we can just "hang out" afterwards until some of the traffic dies down (or until they kick us out ~ whatever comes first).

Our city had a fireman vs policeman softball game in the am, parade in the early afternoon, then at the park where the fireworks were they had the high school band playing for 2 hours before the fireworks and then the fireworks.

Our hometown doesn't really offer anything since its so small. Some years there is a fireworks show at the local park, but thankfully its close to a few larger cities. This year there was a few celebrations including a balloon glow at the mall.
