Yep, I def think I'm going to do this! Anything that would have gone in their stockings IMO could be wrapped and put under the tree. Times are tough right now and cutting down (well practically out) the stockings will help! I'll use the stockings for all their edible stuff...

Good for you mama!!

I LOVE stockings and FILLING them to the MAX each year! But I do ALOT of homemade goodies, socks, hair accessories, cool new toothbrushes and specialty shoelaces..ect. I also fill each one with a fresh piece of their favorite fruit

We are really into stockings too, but it sure would save a lot if we could cut it out! I try to fill it with stuff I'd buy anyway like treats or useful things.

Same here! I fill with goodies I've already baked and prepared for the Christmas day. Also fill with items I know the family will need. Last year I put in a set of new wooden spatula's for me. And in my dh's I put in a couple new ties for him to wear to work.

I think stockings for us are just that "extra" special thing that makes the day seem more like what I remember as a child.

Filling stockings full of "I wants" rather than "I needs" is where it becomes costly.

PLUS I love stuffing the stockings vs. wrapping little things

Stockings are one of my favorite parts of Christmas. They can cost a lot, but can also be filled cheaper with some creativity. My family would throw me out in the snow if I suggested ditching stockings!!

I think my stocking filling will be easy this year...i always put in an orange & an apple & the girls would like individual boxes of cereal, that'll fill it up fast, so it shouldn't cost me much. Plus i was also thinking a bag of beef jerky as my family likes that.

I picked up some Halloween candy yesterday for cheap. I got enough for the three boys and it cost me $2. So I will do the candy, pair of socks and a small toy. I like to do stockings too but have learned that you dont have to spend a ton of money on them.

My kids are just 1 1/2 and 3 1/2 so stockings will be around for quite a while. I waited so long to have little feet in the house on Christmas morning, that basically nothing gets cut out. Traditions from old and new ones too are recognized.

Santa still fills the stockings at our house! I am one of those people who make stockings expensive but I enjoy spoiling my girls.

We have gone to only edibles in our stockings. The stockings are not a very big deal at our house either.
