This year, I've decided not to make a turkey. The bummer is that Thanksgiving is one of the most frugal meals of the year!!! But only if your family will eat the leftovers! Mine just refuses. No matter how I dress it up I get complaints and I just can't eat a whole turkey by myself.

So this year we're doing something different. Might be steak might be some great burgers or some thing else. Anybody do something non-traditional for Thanksgiving?

My family loves Turkey and Turkey leftovers for sandwiches too much to not make Turkey. Although a few years ago my mom decided to make a huge Roast Beef instead of Turkey and that was really good!

Let us know how your family likes the burgers or steaks! If they complain you can just say you will only make a Turkey if they eat the left overs

We are camping with a large group of friends. We will be camping from Wednesday until Sunday. On Thanksgiving we are going to deep fry turkey. We can't wait. Usually Thanksgiving is a little lonely for me because my whole family is in Ohio while I am in Florida, I know they are all together and I feel like I am left out, even though I have my kids and grandkids now. But this year a group of us that all have family out of state have decided to go camping together. It will be a blast for us and the kids, and grandkids.

I am not sure what we are doing. Dh has to go out of town the day after so we will be sticking close to home. I am actually have family over on Saturday to celebrate DS4's 1st bday. That may be the only time we all get together in Nov. If it is just us for Thanksgiving, than I am not sure what I will cook. Turkey and fixings is always great, and my family eats leftovers. But I could also do something like a pot roast. Two years when it was just dh and I, I didnt cook a turkey. I think one year we just did burgers and the other year we did Italian food. I would really like to to something like crab legs, but at the amount of crab legs that my guys (mainly the 6 & 7 year old), it would cost me a fortune!

You could freeze the turkey leftovers, you know. Pull it out in January for turkey dinner. We froze turkey, gravy - even the stuffing froze great. Or, you could just by turkey breast or turkey drumsticks & just cook those so you don't have leftovers.

As far as our plans, I'm thrilled I don't have to host it this year. It's been moved back to my sister, but her home is too small to fit folks. Luckily, her son just bought a home & he doesn't have any living room furniture yet, so she is going to host it as his place, so we'll all get to see his house. We just all have to bring a dish & folding chairs!

We're going to my brother's house for dinner, so I won't have leftovers. However, that's my family's favorite part, so we're doing an early Thanksgiving with the IL's this weekend.

M'ija doesn't like turkey, so when it was just her and me, I made seafood gumbo for Thanksgiving.
Now I make a pot of gumbo in addition to the turkey dinner.

Traditional all the way here. I think we'll probably have about 15 people.
