One thing I have been trying to do lately is buy store brand when it is a lot cheaper, I have so far been happy with everything. Today I went to buy desitin for dd and the Target brand was quite a bit cheaper, so I bought it, but my mom said I should have bought the desitin. Does anyone use target brand diaper creme? There both just zic oxide so I wouldn't think it would matter.

My DS doesn't use a lot but I have tried Peneten (sp?) and no-named. I don't find any difference at all.
When deciding whether to switched to store brand take a look at the ingredients in each. Ingredients are listed in order of the amount that each item contains, ie: if the main ingredient is water, it will be listed first. Does this make sense?
Anyhow if they are basically in the same order then you know the composition of both is fairly close.
I did this with fever medicine as well. I checked the amount of the medical ingredients and they were identical and I haven't found any differece at all.

If you check the ingredients and it says 40% Zinc Oxide, then it is the same as regular Desitin (not the creamy, which has less zinc oxide & IMO doesn't work as well). I prefer the store brand because it doesn't smell bad like Desitin.

I have always used creamy because I thought it went on better. However, ds never really had diaper rash (just a little red) same with dd, until recently. Maybe I should try the regular

I stopped useing diaper rash creams and now use plain old corn starch and it works great she has not had a single rash. It cost .33 cents and a box lasts a long time. I decided to use it all the time when it cleared up a rash in two days that the cream was not healing.

Having had 3 babies with very fair, sensitive skin, we've gone through tons of diaper cream... I never buy name brand. The store brand is fine. (I don't like Target's brand as well as some... ) I once found diaper cream at the dollar store and bought like 15 of them! It was my favorite... it worked better than name brand (which I've used also, but only when given in gift baskets or samples.)

I have known moms who have never (or rarely) used diaper ointments... they are so lucky. In our fair-bottomed world, it's a necessity.:D

We used to buy Desitin, NOT the creamy kind though. We have been buying the Equate (Wal-mart brand) again, not the creamy and it works just as well. The ingrediants are the same and is over a dollar cheaper for the same size (we get the 4oz.)

We also use the Wal-mart brand head to toe wash and lotion as well as their brand diapers. We obviously are very happy w/Wal-mart brand and have saved TONS of $$$:D

Hopefully some day we will get the boys potty trained and wont have to buy diaper rash cream or diapers!!!

I always buy the Equate brand that is similar to A & D and it works great. Like it a lot better than Desitin, actually. If it works for you, it shouldn't matter the name brand- many store brands are made by name brand manufacturers so have the same ingredients anyway
