I have done so well the last month or so- no last minute shopping trips before Christmas, no after Christmas shopping since there wasn't anything I needed.

But, today I had some time to myself and wandered into Target to return some items. Since the kids were at Grandma's I had the luxury of taking my time and walked through the entire store. Ended up walking out with $70 worth of things. Granted, I bought a bunch of different games that were 50% -90% off for birthday gifts and Christmas (all recipients known), as well as 25 different clothing items for various gifts and DDs. . .but still! I know i saved a ton of money, but did I really need to buy all that?

Oh well. . . .teach me to go to target alone and without a mission.

I use to wish we had target here but now that I see all these posts, I'm sort of thankful we don't.

If you really do regret the purchases, you can still take them back. Usually when I have "buyer's remorse", I'll wait a day or two. Then by day 3, if I still feel remorseful, I take it all back. It feels so good to get my money back after I've regretted a purchase.

Good points KathrynHannah. My question to you is this....if you hadn't bought it on sale, would you have ended up spending more money to buy stuff later? Like the stuff for gifts down the road. Now that you have them, would you need to buy something else later at possibly a higher price if you return them? If so, then you did the right thing by buying them on sale. See where I'm going with this?

I agree keep it a few days and if you want your money back take the stuff back. Soemthing else I have learned, when I buy a new gadget I keep the box and receipt for a while. IF I have used the item a couple times and i stll like it I keep it. If Im not happy with the item I will take it back and tell them I think its junk and it didnt meet my expectations so I want my money back.

If you saved money on items that you would have purchased down the road (like b'day gifts) then I say GOOD FOR YOU! Look at all the future money you saved!

I would have done the same thing- which is why I am just having to stay out of the stores completely while I go through "shopping detox". My problem is that at the next great sale, I would just buy more. It was a never ending cycle. And I started to feel like bargain shopping was some kind of high I was on- like a junkie.

Thanks girls- I really don't regret buyng it all since I did only buy things that I will use. I'm excited I saved money, but chances are there will be another awesome sale down the road that wouldn't cause me to clutter up my formerly decluttered guest closet.

It's more that I didn't mean to spend it and just got all excited over good games marked down 75%. I wonder if the thrill of a good deal will always be so addictive- it's my crack!! Who needs drugs when you can shop for bargains at Target!!

I think Target gets all of us. I went last night to return some of the stuff I bought at 90% and exchange it for the plastic storage boxes from their ad. I walked the entire store and am so proud of myself for only buying the storage containers and barely spending over my gift card amount. I got $38 back from the return and spent 38.95 so I had to pay .95 but I thought that was great. But boy was it tough.

Especially since Target had a TON of baby clothes on 75%. Now dh and I are wanting to start a family in 2008 so do you know how hard it was to pass it up. Of course unless somehow I get preggers in the next couple of months I'll be able to hit the sale this time next year. But if it had been the furniture and etc. I know I wouldn't have been able to resist.

I'm the same way. I was there last night and ended up buying some pants for ds because they were 75% off. It is so hard to pass up good deals.
