I am too frugal i think sometimes.. am I nuts?
I was at a meeting today that I helped put out the snacks for break time and hand out name tags ect... well i notices that all the snack bags of chips were out dated...
I mentioned it to the person in charge- full knowing she would say pitch them...
well my other coworker who knows how I am - said- take them home dont throw them out- your boys will love them-lol
well i came home with like 30 bags of snack size doritios cheetos fritos ruffles that kinda thing-

you think it matters that they are outdated?
lol- i am such a cheappee!

The date is really just a sell by date. They should be fine. If you open the chips and they are crisp eat them. They have so many presevatives they dont ever go bad presay. Have you ever seen a chip with mold on it? By the way your not cheap just smart!

Not cheap just frugal. If the chips are still crispy they are fine.

My 3 and 4 yr old eat them when they are a bit on the stale side- now my 12 year old won't- but I don't think the younger ones can tell the difference yet. I would have done the same.

Nah, it probaby won't matter - as long as they weren't dated in the 90's! My first thought was - NO, NO, the temptation!!! But that's because I am on this diet and I don't know if I could resist Cheetos!

Taste , touch, and smell are always your best indicators. I have bought meat, that was within the date of sell by and smelled really bad. We did not eat it, it was bad. We tried cooking it, but it had a funny smell and taste, so I threw it out. I have also had snack goldfish that were not that crunchy and they were bought before sell date.
