I had to go through our receipt file in order to return something... oh goodness, I have never been more motivated to stop spending! It is madness, truly. All those receipts jammed into a file, spilling out all over the place. It is a major undertaking to find a receipt around here... and it hit me: Stop buying stuff and you won't have to deal with all the receipts and the returning of things...

Thankfully I was already in the frame of mind to stop the spending... the receipts just solidified my "cause" so to speak.

I know what you mean! For me, it's easy to deny I spend so much, until I have all those receipts staring me in the face!!

I agree. I hate receipts! I'm so glad Target can look up any transaction made w/a credit cards. Makes returns so much easier - now I can just throw away those receipts.

A co-worker taught me this tip.

Use a menu-order stick (can not think of a word for it) you put your receipts on it- this way they are in order of date and you can see them. I clean them out once the stick gets full. I take from the bottom and keep the newest ones.
