Looking through Party City for my son's upcoming party- I noticed how expensive party ware can be.

If your child is dead set on Dora or Star Wars- buy just the plates and maybe a tablecloth. Go to the Dollar Tree and pick out a solid color that goes with the theme and that way you haven't spent too much money and child is happy that they have a Dora or Star Wars party.

I always buy solid color partyware. We have themed parties. However, the cake, the homemade invitations, and homemade decorations are the only themed items at the party. We buy solid colored cups, plates, napkins, etc. so that we are not stuck with extras that cannot be used at another party. With four children, we host a lot of parties and, of course, the themes of choice are rarely the same. The solid partyware is cheaper and always gets used at a future party!

This is a great idea! I found plain yellow party ware on clearance at Wal-Mart last year before ds's 2nd bday. It just cemented his construction party (no pun intended).
