I put this somewhere this week, but I didn't enter it in the contest!! Anyhow, anytime I shop, when I write a check OR use my debit card, I always round up the amount that I spend to the TEN dollar next amount. If I spend $44.44, I round it up to $50 and I get the CASH back. Then, I come home and tuck that cash into a stash in my bedside table. (the change goes in the change jar to pay for zoo memberships, etc!) I save the cash for however long I can, and when we need to make a major purchase or have major auto work done, etc. and think we can't because we don't have it saved, well...as MaryGrace says, "TAAADAAAA!!!!!". I have the money ready! If I DON'T do it this way, we always spend that difference on STUFF that we can't account for later. This way, it is a guaranteed savings, and I cannot tell you how often it has been a lifesaver for us!!!

By the way....years of doing this, and dh STILL doesn't know that I do it! He just thinks I magically pop it out somehow!!!!! LOL MEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's a really good idea! I have a question though, how do you do that with your debit card? Doesn't it automatically just take out the amount of the purchace? Thanks.
