We do a lot of travelling to visit relatives, and the trips are usually 4-5 hours each way. So I need to come up with inexpensive ways to keep my girls entertained without spending a lot of money. I go online about a week before we go and print off coloring pages from various websites that the girls are really interested in at the time (Bratz, Disney Princess, ponies, dogs, etc.). I then staple about 10 different pages together and make about 4-5 packets for each girl. I grab about 20 crayons for each of them and toss all of this into a Target bag or large Ziploc baggie. I usually throw in some old note cards, stickers, and scrap notepads that I have laying around the house. It is an instant "art bag" that was basically free to throw together. The girls love them and can't wait to open them once we start out on the trip. It entertains them for hours, and I am happy since they don't watch movies for the entire trip this way. Coloring books can get expensive, so this is my cheap version of it, and they get a great variety of pictures as well!
