I know you have heard it a thousand times before but it probably the best and most general statement that is for those frugal. It applies to lots of things...
---don't buy gladware simply reuse your old butter containers, sour cream tubs, etc those for your leftovers instead. (it saves you money, the enviornment, and you won't miss them if they get stuck in your freezer for some time)
---reuse all your food even if you just have a small amount and re-invent them. a few leftover vegetables and broth from a roast can be a great base for a stew, that leftover french bread makes great individual pizza breads for the kids at lunch, leftover roast chicken can make some wonderful quesidillas, etc.)
---all your leftover newspapers can be shredded and reused for packing when mailing (great for those who sell on ebay)
---reuse coffee ground can to fertilize your garden
---use up that leftover conditioner to shave legs with
---reduce and use only half of the recommended amount when you can get away with it
(laundry detergent, meat in spaghetti sauce, water, household cleaner, etc.)
---don't go out and buy taco seasoning when you have all the ingredients in your pantry to create your own
---children love doing crafts from toilet paper rolls, egg cartons, etc. (the best part is that you don't have to pay for the materials and it is a creative process for them that helps them learn)
These are just a few examples but if you can put the motto to use you can find what works for you. SO everyone save money in the process of helping the enviornement!
