This is similar to blessed_with_6's, but more feasible for me since I try and pay cash for groceries or put them on a rewards card.

I love using my coupons and add up how much I save by using the coupons. Then that amount I keep track of and put into our mutual fund account. I keep a tally in our budget spreadsheet and at the end of the year that is money that we use for a fun family event. I count all coupons I use- whether at grocery store, Children's place, restaurants or the mall. Some months its only $20, others it is much more. At the end of the year we have usually put several hundred dollars into our fund that we can use for asomething for the family. We don't incur a penalty for withdrawal and the interest isn't shabby either so it works well for us to do this. It doesn't seem like much, but sure is nice to have that "free" money at the end of the year. Since I would generally have bought the items even without a coupon I see it as almost "free" money.
