My husband and I met on 1/24/87 (yes - 20 years ago!)- we celebrate this date every year vs anything to do with the commercial V-tines day. It means more to us and everything is CHEAPER and we can go out without worrying about reservations, etc... Pick a date that is meaningful to you and your spouse and celebrate that vs being caught up in the trappings of a "designated" day for love. We plan on going to the free wine tasting held at our local University's performing arts center on Thursdays (hubby has class on Wednesday, the actual "anniversary") and then out for light dinner - my niece is watching the boys (college student...bringing her laundry to do while she is here) so prob will be inexpensive night! We fortunately made this decision early on in our relationship so we didn't need to change once the boys came along and we went to one+ income.
