I guess we are in BIG trouble. Neither of us are big savers...BUT, if I had to say one or the other, it is definitely more me than him on saving. I have "stashes", where he has BILLS! LOL With six kids, we ALWAYS need something, so maybe that is why I feel like I am a spender...cause I am the one who HAS to go out and buy!!!

Hubby and I are both. We influence each other.

He tends to horde stuff. He spends because he sees wonderful deals, can't pass them up, and worse - he thinks he is getting such a wonderful deal he will purchase multiples of that item even if we would never need that many or could even use them.

I tend to save by wanting to put money into savings / investments. It can be so difficult for me to part with money that I'll usually 'cheap out' and by a version of what I need or want to 'make due'. I then end up throwing out the item because I'm so dissatisfied with it - a huge waste of money. Hubby helps me to curb that tendancy. However, once I have one item I really, really like I tend to keep it for as long as I possibly can manage.

DH is definitely the SAVER. I am definitely the SPENDER. But, I am changing and have changed a lot. I'm in recovery...

btw I was testing the theory of opposites marrying... it is true for each couple I know. Funny.

Im a saver, my fiance is a horrible spender - if there is money in his wallet it lasts 5 minutes.

The only solution we came up with so he did not bankrupt us was pocket money. I pay all the bills, we agree on stuff we need - not what he wants and I buy it. All I give him out of his pay check is his pocket money for the month - and when thats gone he does not get anything more.

Its working slowly, but his pocket money is starting to last longer than a week! Hopefully before we are married he will be able to have some pocket money left over after the month has ended (cross fingers)

I am the saver and he is more of the spender. We compliment each other very nicely and everything has been working out!

Interesting question, you really made me think! I think both dh and I are very much on the same page with our attitude about money. He is very careful in making sure we put enough into our investments and live within our means, but he tends to blow money on little things like lunches out. He would probably counter by saying I get on kicks where I buy more clothes than I need for myself and the kids. But if I had to choose, I'd say I'm the saver and he's the spender. I'm as thrify as they come, when I want to be (or have to be!).

I am soooo a saver. My husband sort of complains about it, but also appreciates it. I would not lable him a spender, but probably a happy medium between the two. He doesn't spend recklessly.

I have to say I'm the spender and hubby's the saver. When we got married, he had quite a stash saved and I had the credit card debt. Now my debt is gone... so is a lot of his stash but our house is paid for. I'd say he's changed me and once I'm a SAHM I'll have to be even less of a spender, and I think I'll do OK.

I don't really think I fall into either category. I spend, but not excessively. I do like an occasional luch out and such. But I believe in saving for things you want. DH is more a spender, but he has gotten better!

Neither one of us are either really, we spend but not excessively and we save (although not as much as we should). We are both in the middle I guess! But my dh is more of a spender on junk, like lunches out, stops at the gas station for snacks, etc. I am too frugal (or cheap) to ever buy junk. When I spend it's on quality stuff for us, the kids or the house at a good price.
