some days i crave giving in to the dark side (spender) but most of the time, I'm the saver. I keep the finances in order, so I know how much money is in the bank, and what the pop-up expenses (prescriptions, car repairs) can do to us. DH is the spender, at heart. He's changed from the beginning of our marriage, where he was pretty bad. he's gotten better. Instead of wanting tons of video games and stuff, he realizes where we are financially and always asks me what I think (and for permission) to buy something. If I say we don't have the $, it's a done deal, no hard feelings. (I used to feel guilty about him not being able to have some nice things in return for working so hard to provide for our family.) I'm almost dreading the first few paychecks of his promotion - he'll be on this high and want to buy stuff and I'll have to talk him down to just like one thing (for me, that's a perm I've been wanting for almost a year now).. I hope he goes with the flow and agrees with us SAVING the extra money..
