If you or your husband are like Matt and I, you probably get periodic raises or bonuses added in to your paycheck.
I discovered a couple years ago that we can actually live on the amount he was getting paid then. Even though he keeps getting bonuses, commissions, and raises, I pretend that he doesn't. When he deposits his check, he gets a slip from the bank verifying the amount of deposit, but when I register it in the checkbook, I only register the amount from a couple years ago.
This helps me to keep from spending it and gives us a pad for emergencies. By living under our means, I don't tend to spend as frivolously and we still get to save money without feeling the pinch.
