I love candles and hate to waste the remains of a nice, fragrant one. I shave candle remains into a clear container, cut cheap tapers to the correct height of the container and center the cut taper in the container. I pile the shavings around the candle so that the candle itself is covered. The wick doesn't collapse and I haven't wasted my fragrant candle shell. The shavings melt as the center taper burns and I get the fragrance of the shavings. Small decorative canning jars work as well as empty candle containers.

I love this idea, too! I have some candles that have taken a beating from being knocked over by the little ones (of course, they weren't lit!). But, they don't look very pretty anymore. What a great idea for them!
