Use your local home improvement centers (Home Depot or Lowe's) as a great resource on how to learn to do remodeling and home improvement jobs. Their employees are trained and super helpful. My husband and I have learned to tile, lay laminate flooring, hang garage doors with openers, install exterior doors, install sump pumps, and much more just by asking store personnel! We've saved a ton of money by doing the jobs ourselves. Some centers even offer free classes on a variety of home improvement and decorating topics. There are also a lot of internet resources available with great diagrams. Check it out!

OH-YEAH!
It saves to DIY!

My husband and I bought a "fixer-upper" three years ago. We fixed a lot of things on our own. I usually looked up DIY information on the internet. There are a lot of really great sites for this! I even tiled our small bathroom on my own while DH was out of town. It looks great!

Now we are selling the house and just got offered full asking price!!
