So, I have been trying for the last year to be frugal, I found this board I have cut down & changed my family's way of life drastically from the way we used to spend but...... did you ever have a relapse??.....

Some days I wake up and going shopping is on list for the day I, armed with my list go to the store and I begin to relapse I just start throwing things into the cart like a mad women, it is like my mind leaves me and I start to not care about the price.... and after I get a shocking bill at the check out and I get home to unload I have NO idea why I bought half of the stuff that I did throw into the cart.... It is like something VERY UNFRUGAL comes and takes over my body temporarily..

This does not happen often....... but when it does it is bad, real bad

Just wanted to know if I am alone... :hurl:

Nope, I have those moments too sometimes. Thats why the ability to return things is great! You are definitely not alone.

You are not alone! My weakness is sales-that is why my goal is to stay out of the stores this month, hopefully I can do it

You are not alone.

I often think of saving as similar to eating right (dieting). You will fall off the wagon every once in a while but the important thing is not to give up but to keep working at it and to forgive yourself for your mistakes.

The good thing about overspending, is that it's often ok to take it all back. If you are having buyers remorse, take back what you wish you hadn't bought. You will feel so much better.

Good way to think about it - like a diet. And, good advice. I have nothing to add, just agreeing LOL

Too bad you can't just return it when you eat too much (to keep with Kathryn's analogy)- well I guess you can, but it is called bulimia......:hurl:

I fear The Relapse. Last year I was going to really try to spend less, but there were so many times I did exactly what you described! I would have Shopping Insanity- and justify it because it was all clearance/sales stuff. I think I am finally at the point of being SO SICK of having so much stuff that I will stay on the wagon. I hope.

Thank you ladies for making me feel like I am not the only one with THESE moments.
starting over with a new cart after I throw ten tons of stuff in sounds like I would hate to be the one to put it back but it MIGHT help becuase I think half of my satisfaction is just taking stuff off the shelf and putting it into the cart!!!! Oh BOy!!

Oh yes. Somedays I just want to go shop. I try to stay out of the stores but like already mentioned, you can always return stuff if you need to.
Wonder what it is in us that makes us want to over consume?
