So now that you are as confused as I am let me explain.

So I went to the forbidden store yesterday, aka Target. I went in search of the bikes that were supposed to be 75% off and a heater (along with a few other things for gifts) Well I ended up spending $245.70! Okay now before everyone has a heart attack let me break it down.

I found the remaining fishing gear for my FIL's birthday gift all at 75% off, the present for my "nephew" which was childrens fishing gear also 75% off, A couple things for my neice's birthday also 75% off. These are the gifts I was still needing to buy for Feb. gifts so that was part of my plan and I found everything at 75% off so that was good. I even put a few things back at 75% (very proud of that). I bought one thing for myself for 4.98 it was a lunch box type thing with the compartments for you food that fit down inside it. I had been wanting something because I am going to be bringing my lunch to work everyday. I liked this one because it looks a little more grown up (for my office) and the containers are made to fit so no more lunch in a walmart bag because it won't fit in something.

Of course that isn't the big money. It was in the furniture department. For those that know target they have that rustic wood furniture (which is what is in all my house) and they had the armoire on sale for 75% off making it 62.xx. I was so excited. Right now our tv is sitting on a microwave cart I bought for $5 at a yard sale. DH and I have looked at this exact armoire many times but I would never let him buy it because it was so expensive and we would just make do. But there it was. So I decided to buy it, sort of an impulse buy and sort of not. The extra money comes in here. I called my mom because I was so excited and she said "do they have any more?" Yes, they had 2 more and mom said "get them for me" Yikes! So that is how I ended up spending so much at Target last night.

Mom was going to mail me a check to cover the cost of her furniture but I had mailed her a check yesterday to pay back some of the money she loaned us so we decided to just take the cost of her furniture off of my debt.

So I was proud of myself for not getting a bunch of extra stuff we didn't need...I didn't even look at stationary, kitchen stuff, or clothing. But I still ended up spending quite a bit. So maybe I failed and maybe I didn't. Who knows, the only thing I know is that I now remember why Target is the "forbidden store" and will not be going back anytime soon!

BTW they didn't have the bikes or the heaters. Go figure!

I'm a Target junkie too, so I understand. I'm also a "make lemonade out of lemons" kind of person, so here is my take on it...

Congratulations! You just paid down $125 of debt that you owed your Mom!

If you had budgeted to purchase gifts for relatives, you would've bought them something anyway. You did great finding items at 75% off.

Now, stay away from Target!

I love the way the 1st poster put it It is true though, you did get some things done that you would have needed to buy in February anyway, and you got them on sale! Plus paid down on a debt

Glad I don't have a Target near me! However, sounds like you made some wise purchases and as long as they were "needed" then you got a good deal>
