Hello everyone!! this is my first post so i just wanted to say hello.

the change jar is a great idea. I did it once while i was saving for a vacation and i managed to pay for my part of the trip puls i had $300 extra spending money (all together i saved close to $800 in one year) Since im a waitress all i did was put my change and $1 bills in a coffee can that i had cut a small hole in the lid and then i superglued the lid on. I am saving for a bigger car since we want another baby, so starting today not only my change and my $1 bills are going in a coffee can but i am clipping cupons for grocerys and the money i save using those is also going in the can. Thanks for the great idea!!!

Current Savings: $23.84

I will make a new post without a month title and see if we can get the mod to sticky it and release this one. That way we can just continue it on or change it every month if we decide to. I'll have it start with the end totals for March and then we can track our April progress as some count their change every time they put it in the jar and some count it at the end of the month.

Great! I love this thread!!! I had to tap into my jar. I now have $27.63 out of $44.23. But, I will be replacing that money friday, glad that it was there for an emergency-I never had that before saving it!

I have a niece that comes from New Hampshire each year during the summer months. We take her to the beach with us in the summer. Once April rolls around I start throwing in my spare change in a plastic bank. Then in August, right before we leave for the beach, I count all the money that has been saved and take it to the Commerece Bank. I let my niece pour all the change into the change machine and let her guess how much is in there. SHE LOVES to guess the amount!! Then she takes all the money with her on her trip the JERSEY Shore!! She buys souveneirs for her family and then sometimes has leftover money to buy some pre-school items.
