hello. I had to cash in my jar for an emergency once a few months ago, I had $80.00 in change. I think I now have about that in change. I have a big apple cider jar that I use for my change. I'm no where near filling it up yet but I have about $80, because its like it was before. I put my change in everyday now. Its such a habit now. My mother cashed in her change at Xmas and she had along with dollar bills she also saved, $400 altogether. This year she wants at least $600 in change alone. I hope to have about $250 by Xmas.

Hi! We have a big change jar, but now have been using it for little allowances for my dd. It's working out great. We have this extra money to help pay for it, meanwhile, she's learning the value of a "coin" as she puts it.

Hey, I never knew this thread was here!

We have saved $290 in ours since January. It's DH's "flat screen fund". He wanted one so bad last fall, and got a little bit of money for Christmas, and wanted to buy the flat screen then, so that was my compromise. We rarely watch tv, but this is just a splurge for him, since he has been working so hard on saving! Hopefully he realizes that it can be used for better things before we get there, though! When I have that much money on hand I just want to hide it and stash it away from myself and everyone else, lol!

I've beem doing this since Feb challenge and it has added up. We now have $111 in rolled change and $7.60 in unrolled change. If we keep up at this rate I figure we will have $400 by the end of the year.

Me and my DH are saving all of our change in our big pink piggy bank with a tierra. So far we have about $150 we are saving all but the pennies for our daughter. She is due in July. We plan to use the money for christmas and emergencies. As far as the pennies go they are in a milk jug we are saving those for a Disney vacation for when she gets older.

p.s. found two pennies in the parking lot walking into work! WHOO-Hoo

I started saving my change Jan 1st and don't spend a coin ever!! I started a savings account with it and now have almost $170 in it. I'm not good at saving so this is huge for me! LOL

I just emptied ours and it had more then 84.00 in it. We used this one for a grocery trip instead of taking money out of the regular budget. When it is full around Christmas I use it to get things for that. We also normally have it full right before vacation.

Ours fills up fast because I use cash only now. I don't like to use checks and the debit card is a definate no, no. I don't use change at the store so when I break a bill it stays broken.

We keep our silver and pennies separated into 2 different large wine jugs. The pennies only get cashed in when the jar is completely full, which is about every 2 years. And even at that, its usually only around $100 dollars. But our silver we just started back up towards the end of February (had to break into it for a vehicle emergency). I just finished counting it early today, and so far the silver is up to $76.55. My goal is to let it go, and be able to use this as our Christmas money this year. Woo hoo!
