I'm feeling quite guilty as I went out yesterday and bought a new purse. Let me explain. My dh gets his bonus this month, we should have a few hundred extra $ that should probably go into savings. However, my last purse is really old, and I only paid $6 for it and well, it's falling apart.

Yesterday I was out with a friend and found a red leather purse that I loved! It was $41, but it's leather (and yes, it was on sale). So I bought it, and last night I decided to take it back, then today I decided to look at it again, and the next thing I had pulled the tags off and I'm carrying it.

So I'm feeling guilty.

Don't feel so bad about this. You deserve a bonus too! Consider it a reward for all the great things you've been doing to save money for your family! I mean, you've got to have somewhere to keep all of that money you've been saving, right?

Yup, I know the feeling but agree with all the others. Some times you just have to reward yourself and feel ok with it. That is your treat for the month (or how ever long you can justify it for) and I am sure you will sacrifice in so many other areas in the future.

$41 isn't bad, and I think you agree that you deserve it. I do buy the high-end purses because they last, have a lifetime guarantee and I keep them forever, rotating them. It is my one fetish/splurge. It's something you use every day and it is so personal, which is why I don't buy them ever used (unless I found a real Vuitton that I want and in no way can spend over $1,000 for).
