Okay, yesterday I bought myself a coat/jacket/whatever at Sams. It was Jones New York Sport brand, black, and made of wool. It cost $41, but it felt really warm when I put it on. I thought that was a good price. DH made faces about it. Meanwhile he pays 3x that on useless cr*p. We don't have many cold days, but when we do, all I have are a mish-mosh of Mickey Mouse or sports team sweatshirts. I think a coat looks more professional. Also, we go further north sometimes like GA and Tennessee, and the sweatshirts aren't warm enough.

So you north of Miami ladies, is $41 too much for a coat? I am not an impulse spender, so buying this out of the blue, plus DH's little "looks", has got me second-guessing. I figure if I can say "well, in (insert your state here) people pay more than $41 for a coat" I can justify it to myself. LOL

Well.. I wish I was in Miami.. so does that count? I'm in Canada, so high quality winter coats here are a must... I spent $120 on my winter jacket this year.. on sale. So tell hubby that one.. that's 3x the amount of yours.. lol! And I think $41 for a nice winter jacket is a steal! Good for you!

We are over-run with coats in this house. I have 3 good ones that I purchased at Burlington for at least $100 each. My hubby has so many coats and jackets, I've lost count. Even DD has three coats: a school coat, a ski coat, and a dress coat. The dress coat was given to us but it is a fine navy blue wool that is so cute! The ski jacket was on sale for something over $40 - I'm trying to forget how much I paid. The school coat was on clearance for $40 at Toys-R-Us. Remember, we're talking coats for a 5-yr old.

Every woman should have at least one decent coat no matter where you live. It is something you'll wear year after year. If it isn't quite warm enough for you, then add a few layers.

Congrats on your great deal.

Thanks! I feel much better now! I figure it will last me years considering we only wear them a little down here, and certainly not getting wet with snow or whatever. The last time I had a nice coat, I was a teenager, and I wore it into my 20's, when I outgrew it And it was still in good condition, just too small. So I do think I got a good deal. Thanks for your input!

I live in central florida and still think you should have a decent coat. 40$ is a great price for a coat that will last you many years. I bought one about 7 yrs ago and it still looks new.

I live in MD. My ski jacket was $300. I have a couple fleece jackets and a waterproof rain jacket that were all around $50.

Your coat was a good bargain!

I'm from Erie, PA & i have to say that's a great deal! Way to go!!!

I love coats and need plenty of them for my area. I think the most I spent on a coat was $60 & it was on sale from Land's End. I've had it for over 12 years now & it still looks good so that was a great deal for me. DOn't feel bad about spending that much. My hubby spends more on himself too. I try not to feel bad when I spend something on myself because those times are few & far between...know what I mean? I have 2 little girls & hubby & they always come first.

But...we do have to take care of ourselves every once in awhile. Remind DH of that.
