What is the most frugal thing you've done this week?

Mine is making mini brownies for my kids. My kids love those Brownie Bites from Hostess but the price drives me nuts! It's $2.50 a box (on sale) and all you get is 5 bags with 3 or 4 mini brownies each. So.....I bought a box of brownie mix (on sale of course!) and using my mini-muffin tin and a tart shaper, I made my own. WAY cheaper and MORE of them!

I haven't grocery shopped except to buy eggs and bread! I was thinking about going because my cupboards are less full than usual, then I started thinking about it and realized that we still have plenty of food in the house!!! I really don't need to buy more!

DH wanted to go out and eat, but instead I fixed a nice ham, potatoes, baked beans, and garlic toast (from leftover buns) and cookie bars. I figured the meal was only $7, plus we had left over ham that I used to make calzones with last night . We also invited over some family who is having some money troubles, so it felt good to help them out too.
At work today, there was a group that came in for a catered lunch meeting and had a boxed lunch leftover, so they gave it to me. It was nice to have a free meal!

Last night I made my own pizza dough for the first time. It was a whole wheat recipe that was in Parents magazine. It was so good! I was very proud of myself! Tonight we are having our "buffet night" - leftovers - and I am making apple oatmeal bars from the Tightwad Gazette to go with it! I love this thread! Inspire me ladies!

Midwest Mom this is so nice of you. I can just imagine how appreciative they were to have some support and a nice meal. Kuddos to you!

My frugal effort was making homemade custard instead of buying the little individual servings. DH likes something with his coffee in the afternoon (works from home) and it is so much cheaper.

I have brought my lunch to work and basically stayed home. We have plenty of DVDs to watch, scrapbooking (which I did for the first time last night in about a year....), plenty of food to make, and my daughter and boyfriend. I made homemade pizza last night with wheat dough. It was sooooo yummy! I invited my friend over to scrapbook with me and we ate the pizza and let our daughters play together while we did our thing. I don't need to spend all this money to keep me happy!!!

I think my most frugal thing was the bday party I threw for my DD, who turned 8.
She invited 4 friends to spend the night. I MADE pizza for them, not ordered out, I MADE cupcakes for the cake, didn't go buy one. I did buy each of them a cheap white pillow case to decorate with Fabric Markers we already had, and I bought a couple of small items from the dollar store to make them each a goodie bag, $3.00 per bag was spent. We also played a game we made up as kids called "draw in the dark", turn the lights out and think of something to draw, turn the lights on and see how silly your picture looks, they loved it, and played it for almost an hour. We painted nails and they listened to music.

WAY cheaper than renting a place or going bowling or to Chuckie Cheese, and way more memorable for all of the girls too!
