We decided to really work at cutting back on our grocery spending (we usually spent about $160 a week just for the 4 of us) so we figured we would shop for 2 weeks worth of groceries and really pay attention to what's cheaper (not easier). Well, we bought 2 weeks worth of groceries for the same amount of money that we usually spend for one week!!!! I'm sooooo proud of us. (The girls complained a bit but they'll get over it!)

Thanks for the support....I was amazed at how many more groceries we bought when we did some price comparisons, plus we tried some of the store brands. It was a really good feeling....we'll definitely continue with this and try to save more next time!

Great job!

I've been trying to cutback too! If I can stay w/in a $100 a week that would be great, but it's really hard sometimes. I too am a former $160/week grocery shopper. I'm amazed at how some people can spend so little. It's hard for me.

I'm also not a great cook. So cooking from scratch seems foreign to me!

Honestly, there are TONS of meals you can make from 'scratch' that require few ingreidents. I actually cook for a living, I used to work as a chef, but I would rather not cook large meals at home unless its a Sunday dinner type setting. I love to cook pasta and sauce and box mix potatoes. LOL

WOO HOO you go girl!

I too have trimmed my food budget back in order to pay off debt quicker. I am not a great cook but I found some recipes on line and I am trying to learn. I think it's going quite well.
